WILLIAM SEBASTIAN TURNER
BIO
I am a Los Angeles based filmmaker from Perth, Western Australia. After being admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia, I pivoted professionally into the world of film and television. I have subsequently written, directed, and produced short films in Australia, Denmark, England, and the US. I wrote and directed the award winning short film TIDEVAND (2017) while studying at the European Film College in rural Denmark. I am currently in post-production on a web-series I co-wrote and directed in Brooklyn, NY called NOT QUITE IT. I recently graduated from Columbia University’s Filmmaking MFA. My thesis short, ESPERANCE TO FREMANTLE, was one of five Jury Selects at the 2023 Columbia University Film Festival (CUFF), had its World Premiere at Dances With Films: NYC, and its Australian Premiere at FlickerFest 2024. The film was awarded Best of the Fest at my hometown's WA Made Film Festival. At the same CUFF my feature script, FLOODED MINE, was named a Faculty Selects.
